The hunger bar you never saw
Get AppleSkin
One JAR file per loader. Drop into mods for Forge, Fabric, or NeoForge — client-side only, no server install needed.
Why saturation matters
Minecraft has two hidden hunger values: hunger (the visible drumsticks) and saturation (an invisible buffer). Saturation depletes first. When it runs out, hunger starts dropping. Most players do not know what their saturation level is because the vanilla HUD does not show it.
AppleSkin makes saturation visible. It also shows how much hunger and saturation a food item will restore before you eat it, so you can carry the right food for the situation. That's the entire mod — no content, no blocks, no items, just information the game already tracked but never displayed.
The practical effect in a survival world is significant. Golden carrots restore more saturation than cooked beef. Steak restores more hunger than bread. Without the tooltip, you can't make that trade-off consciously — you just eat whatever's in your hotbar. AppleSkin lets you plan.
What it adds to the HUD
How to install it
AppleSkin is a client-side mod — the server does not need it, and it won't cause desync or rejection if you join a vanilla server. Install it like any other mod JAR.
- Download the version matching your loader — Forge, Fabric, or NeoForge. The JARs are different.
- Download the version matching your Minecraft version. AppleSkin ships separate builds per MC version; loading the wrong one will crash on startup.
- Drop the JAR into
.minecraft/mods(or your launcher's mods folder for the profile you're using). - Launch the game. The hunger bar will now show saturation info, and food tooltips will display hunger values.

Why this listing exists
Most resource sites either dump hundreds of unverified links with no context, or hide downloads behind fake countdown timers and redirect chains. This page follows a different approach: it shows the resource's real metadata, links to the creator's original page, and states clearly what we have and have not verified.
If you find a broken link, an incorrect version, or a download that goes somewhere unexpected, report it using the contact form. If you are the creator and want this listing removed or changed, see Copyright / DMCA.
