ImmediatelyFast

Sodium optimizes terrain. ImmediatelyFast optimizes everything else — entities, particles, text, GUI, and held maps. They're two halves of the same rendering problem, and both are client-side, conflict-free, and designed to stack. If your FPS is fine on open plains but drops in a crowded village, this is the mod for that second case.

What ImmediatelyFast actually does

Minecraft uses immediate-mode rendering for many things: entities, particles, text, and parts of the GUI. ImmediatelyFast batches these draw calls and uploads data to the GPU more efficiently. The change is invisible — nothing looks different — but the GPU receives fewer, larger batches instead of a stream of small individual submissions.

The effect is most noticeable on servers with many players or entities. In a test with 1000 entities in render distance, frame rates improved significantly with both vanilla and Sodium installed. That's the key point: ImmediatelyFast is not a replacement for Sodium, and it does not compete with it. Sodium handles chunk meshing and terrain rendering; ImmediatelyFast handles the entity, particle, and GUI pipeline. Installing both covers the whole rendering stack.

If your FPS is fine in an empty field but drops when you walk into a busy village, ImmediatelyFast is targeting exactly that bottleneck. If your FPS is consistently low everywhere, Sodium will have the larger effect, and you should install both.

What it optimizes

1
EntitiesMobs, items, and players — batched draw calls instead of one per entity.
2
Block entitiesChests, signs, and machines — included in the same pipeline.
3
ParticlesAll particle types — the biggest wins are in particle-heavy scenes like explosions or weather.
4
Text, GUI, and mapsChat text, HUD text, inventory rendering, and held maps — small per-frame costs that add up.

How to install it

ImmediatelyFast is a client-side mod. The server does not need it, and it won't cause desync or rejection if you join a vanilla or modded server. Install it like any other mod JAR.

  1. Download the version matching your loader — Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt. The JARs are different.
  2. Download the version matching your Minecraft version. ImmediatelyFast ships separate builds per MC version; loading the wrong one will crash on startup.
  3. Drop the JAR into .minecraft/mods (or your launcher's mods folder for the profile you're using).
  4. Launch the game. No configuration required. The mod works silently — there's no HUD, no button, no visible change. You'll only notice it in the FPS counter.
Stacks with Sodium. ImmediatelyFast targets a different part of the rendering pipeline than Sodium. Sodium optimizes chunk and terrain rendering. ImmediatelyFast optimizes entity, particle, and GUI rendering. Install both for maximum benefit.

Frequently asked questions

Will ImmediatelyFast work on a server?
ImmediatelyFast is client-side. The server does not need it. It works on any server that allows client-side mods.
Does ImmediatelyFast conflict with Iris?
No. ImmediatelyFast and Iris target different rendering systems. They coexist without issues.
Why is my FPS not improving?
ImmediatelyFast targets immediate-mode rendering, which is a specific bottleneck. If your FPS is limited by terrain complexity or chunk loading, Sodium will have a larger effect. Use both together for the best results.
Does ImmediatelyFast replace Sodium?
No. They optimize different parts of the rendering pipeline. Sodium handles chunk and terrain rendering; ImmediatelyFast handles entities, particles, text, and GUI. Install both.
Which loaders does ImmediatelyFast support?
ImmediatelyFast supports Fabric, NeoForge, and Quilt. Choose the JAR matching your loader and Minecraft version.
