SkyBlock

The original floating-island survival map. A tree, a chest, a bucket of lava, and a block of ice — that's the whole world. Everything else you make yourself: cobblestone from lava meeting water, food from mob farms, space from platform after platform. One of the most copied map concepts in Minecraft history, and still the reference point every survival variant is measured against.

What SkyBlock actually is

SkyBlock is a survival map where you start on a small floating island in the void. You have limited resources: a tree, a chest with a few items, a bucket of lava, and a block of ice. The goal is to survive and expand your island using only what you can generate.

That scarcity is the point. Every block you place had to be produced. Every tool had to be crafted from something you grew, mined, or farmed. The lava-and-ice combo is the first puzzle — pour lava onto water and you get cobblestone, the first infinite resource. Everything else follows from there: mob farms for bones and string, a Nether portal once you have enough obsidian, and eventually a full resource ecosystem built from nothing.

The original concept dates back to 2010 and has been adapted countless times. Modern versions exist for Java and Bedrock, including variants like Amethyst Sky's, which adds multiple biome islands and a Nether section with ancient debris. There is no single "official" source for modern versions — community reuploads are the standard.

How to start

1
Punch the treeGet wood, craft a crafting table and wooden tools — the standard opening.
2
Generate cobblestoneUse the lava and ice to make stone. Lava flowing onto water creates cobblestone — your first infinite resource.
3
Build a mob farmBones, string, and other resources come from mobs that spawn in the void.
4
Expand platform by platformThe island grows as you build. There's no ceiling except what you can't generate.

How to install it

SkyBlock ships for both editions, but the import method differs. Java is a world folder; Bedrock is a single file.

  1. Java: download the world folder and extract it into .minecraft/saves. The folder must contain level.dat at its root.
  2. Bedrock: download the .mcworld file and double-click it — Minecraft Bedrock imports it automatically.
  3. Launch Minecraft and select the world from the Singleplayer list.
  4. If the world doesn't appear, close the launcher completely before extracting. Minecraft reads the saves folder on startup.
Modern variants. Amethyst Sky's (1.21.5) adds six biome islands, a Deep Dark island with an End portal, and Nether fortresses with ancient debris. If you want more than the classic experience, look for variant maps.

Frequently asked questions

Is SkyBlock the same as OneBlock?
No. SkyBlock starts on a small island. OneBlock starts on a single regenerating block that changes based on phases. Both are survival maps, but the mechanics are different.
Can I play SkyBlock on Bedrock?
Yes. Many SkyBlock adaptations exist for Bedrock. Look for .mcworld files on CurseForge or MCPEDL.
Why is there no official SkyBlock download?
SkyBlock was created by a community member (Noobcrew) in 2010. It has no single official source for modern versions. Community reuploads are the standard way to get it.
What Minecraft version does SkyBlock work on?
Modern adaptations exist for Minecraft 1.20 and later. The original 2010 version works on much older clients, but the community reuploads are the practical way to play today.
Can I play SkyBlock with friends?
Yes. SkyBlock supports singleplayer and multiplayer. On multiplayer, players can share the island and split resource gathering.

Why this listing exists

Most resource sites either dump hundreds of unverified links with no context, or hide downloads behind fake countdown timers and redirect chains. This page follows a different approach: it shows the resource's real metadata, links to the creator's original page, and states clearly what we have and have not verified.

If you find a broken link, an incorrect version, or a download that goes somewhere unexpected, report it using the contact form. If you are the creator and want this listing removed or changed, see Copyright / DMCA.
