The shader that looks like 2013
Get Nostalgia Shader
Shader ZIP goes directly into .minecraft/shaderpacks. Requires Iris 1.5+ or OptiFine — setup steps below.
What Nostalgia Shader actually does
Nostalgia is a deliberate throwback. It is not trying to be realistic or cinematic in the modern sense. It recreates the look of the first generation of Minecraft shaders — the ones from around 2012–2014 — while adding modern technical improvements like volumetric fog and TAA. If you installed a shader in 2013 and loved the way it looked, this is what that memory felt like, rendered with modern code.
Version 5.1 was released in February 2025 and supports Minecraft 1.21.4 and older versions. Version 4.0 and newer require OptiFine for 1.16+ or Iris 1.5.0+. Intel HD 5000 Graphics and older are explicitly not supported — the creator requires an OpenGL 4.0 GPU. macOS is also not listed as supported. Windows and Linux only.
The feature list balances old and new. Custom skybox colors and lighting are the old-school foundation. Volumetric fog, TAA, and auto-exposure are the modern additions. The result is a shader that feels like it was made in 2013 but runs on current hardware without the bugs or performance issues that plagued those early packs.

Why this listing exists
Most resource sites either dump hundreds of unverified links with no context, or hide downloads behind fake countdown timers and redirect chains. This page follows a different approach: it shows the resource's real metadata, links to the creator's original page, and states clearly what we have and have not verified.
If you find a broken link, an incorrect version, or a download that goes somewhere unexpected, report it using the contact form. If you are the creator and want this listing removed or changed, see Copyright / DMCA.
