Faithful 64x

Quadruple resolution, same art style as Faithful 32x. Heavier on VRAM. Recommended only for systems with a dedicated GPU and at least 4 GB of allocated RAM. On a mid-range machine, the visual difference from 32x is smaller than the performance hit — this pack is for close-up detail and high-resolution displays.

What Faithful 64x actually does

Faithful 64x is the same art style as Faithful 32x, but every texture is redrawn at 64x64 instead of 32x32. The result is sharper detail on close-up objects and cleaner lines on distant blocks. The tradeoff is texture memory: 64x textures use four times the VRAM of 32x textures. On a mid-range system, that tradeoff rarely pays off — at normal render distance, 32x and 64x are visually similar.

For most players, 32x is the sweet spot. 64x is for systems with a dedicated GPU and enough RAM to handle the extra texture loading. If you're not sure which to pick, the honest answer is 32x — the visual difference between 32x and 64x is smaller than the performance difference.

The pack is part of the larger Faithful family, which includes 32x, 64x, and Classic Faithful (a community fork). They all share the same design philosophy: preserve the vanilla look, just at higher resolution. 64x is the top end of that family for most setups — beyond 64x, packs tend to change the art style rather than preserve it.

When to use 64x

1
You have a dedicated GPUWith at least 4 GB of VRAM — 64x textures need more than integrated graphics can comfortably provide.
2
You have allocated 4+ GB RAMTo Minecraft. Insufficient RAM is the most common cause of stuttering with high-resolution packs.
3
You want sharper detailAt close range on a high-resolution display — and you don't mind the performance cost.
4
You're not running heavy shaders64x + shaders is a heavy load. On mid-range systems, pick one or the other.

How to install it

Faithful 64x is a resource pack, not a mod. You drop it into resourcepacks, not mods.

  1. Download the ZIP for your Minecraft version from faithfulpack.net. Do not extract it.
  2. Place the ZIP in .minecraft/resourcepacks on Java, or double-click the .mcpack on Bedrock.
  3. In-game: Options → Resource Packs. Move Faithful 64x to the selected column.
  4. Click Done. If Minecraft stutters, check your RAM allocation — 4 GB is the practical minimum.
Performance note. On systems with 4 GB RAM or integrated graphics, Faithful 64x may cause stuttering or crashes. Use Faithful 32x instead if you are unsure. The visual difference between 32x and 64x is smaller than the performance difference.

Frequently asked questions

Is Faithful 64x worth it over 32x?
Only if you have the hardware. On a mid-range system, 32x looks nearly identical at normal render distance and runs smoother. 64x is for close-up detail and high-resolution displays.
Does Faithful 64x work on Bedrock?
Yes. Faithful 64x has a Bedrock Edition version available on faithfulpack.net.
How much RAM should I allocate?
At least 4 GB for Minecraft itself. If you run shaders or many mods alongside Faithful 64x, allocate more. Insufficient RAM is the most common cause of stuttering with high-resolution packs.
Will Faithful 64x cause stuttering?
On systems with 4 GB RAM or integrated graphics, yes — it may cause stuttering or crashes. The pack uses four times the texture memory of 32x. If you're unsure, use 32x instead.
Is Faithful 64x compatible with shaders?
Yes. Faithful 64x works with Iris and OptiFine. It does not include PBR textures, so shaders that use PBR will use standard textures for parallax effects.
