Patrix 128x

The high-resolution tier of Patrix. Requires a dedicated GPU, a shader with LabPBR support, and significant VRAM. The author explicitly warns against trying the 256x version unless you know what you are doing. This is not an upgrade from 32x — it's a different hardware commitment.

What Patrix 128x actually does

Patrix 128x is the high-resolution version of Patrix. It uses the same tiling and randomization approach as the free 32x version, but with textures rendered at 128x128. The result is significantly more detail on every surface, at a significant performance cost. The style is identical to 32x — this isn't a different pack, just a higher-resolution build of the same design.

The creator states that 128x is the practical maximum for most systems. A 256x version exists on Patreon but is explicitly not recommended unless you have a top-tier GPU and know how to manage VRAM. That warning is worth taking seriously: higher resolution doesn't just mean a bigger file, it means more VRAM in use, more loading time, and more system memory pressure. On mid-range hardware, 128x is already more than most systems can handle comfortably.

The 32x version is free on Modrinth and uses the same design philosophy. If you're not sure whether your system can handle 128x, try 32x first — it's the exact same pack, just lighter. There's no feature difference, only resolution. For gameplay at normal render distance, 32x and 128x are visually similar; the difference shows up on close inspection and on high-resolution displays.

Requirements

1
Dedicated GPUWith at least 8 GB VRAM for stable performance — mid-range integrated graphics will not handle it.
2
LabPBR-compatible shaderIris or OptiFine with a PBR shader — the pack relies on shader features for normal and specular mapping.
3
16 GB+ system RAMRecommended — 128x textures consume significant memory both in VRAM and system RAM.
4
Patreon subscription128x and 256x are paid tiers — the 32x version is free on Modrinth.

How to install it

Patrix 128x has multiple components (Basic, Models, Bonus, Addon). You need to install them in the correct order.

  1. Subscribe to the creator's Patreon to access the 128x files.
  2. Download the 128x pack components — Basic, Models, Bonus, Addon.
  3. Install a LabPBR-compatible shader — SEUS PTGI, Complementary Reimagined, or Kappa Shader.
  4. Place all ZIP files in .minecraft/resourcepacks. Load Basic at the bottom, optional packs on top.
  5. In-game: enable the packs in the correct order.
Hardware warning. On systems with less than 8 GB VRAM or without a dedicated GPU, Patrix 128x will cause severe stuttering, crashes, or out-of-memory errors. The 32x version on Modrinth is free and runs on mid-range hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Is 128x better than 32x?
It has more detail, but the difference is only visible at close range or on high-resolution displays. For gameplay at normal render distance, 32x is nearly indistinguishable and runs much better.
Do I need to pay for Patrix?
The 32x version is free on Modrinth. 64x, 128x, and 256x are paid tiers on Patreon. If you are not sure whether your system can handle the higher resolutions, try the free 32x version first.
Can I use 128x without shaders?
It will load, but the textures are designed for PBR shaders. Without a LabPBR-compatible shader, the normal and specular maps are unused, and the pack looks flat. Shaders are required for the intended result.
What hardware do I need for Patrix 128x?
A dedicated GPU with at least 8 GB VRAM, 16 GB system RAM, and a LabPBR-compatible shader. On systems with less, expect severe stuttering, crashes, or out-of-memory errors.
Is there a free version of Patrix?
Yes — Patrix 32x is free on Modrinth. It uses the same tiling and randomization approach as the higher tiers, at 32x resolution, and runs on mid-range hardware.

Why this listing exists

Most resource sites either dump hundreds of unverified links with no context, or hide downloads behind fake countdown timers and redirect chains. This page follows a different approach: it shows the resource's real metadata, links to the creator's original page, and states clearly what we have and have not verified.
