What Stay True actually does

Stay True is a 16x pack that redraws Minecraft's default textures. The goal is not higher resolution or a new art style — it is to make the existing textures look better while keeping the game recognizable. Grass has more variation, stone has subtle detail, and wood has more natural grain. The difference is subtle enough that a first-time player might not notice it at all, and that's the point.

The pack includes connected textures for glass, bookshelves, and other blocks. On OptiFine, these work automatically. On Fabric, you need Continuity to get the same effect. This is the biggest reason Stay True requires a specific setup: the base textures work anywhere, but the connected textures are what make the pack feel different from vanilla at a glance.

The 45.6 million downloads are the strongest evidence that the "subtle improvement" approach works. Most packs that try to improve vanilla either go too far (changing the art style) or not far enough (barely noticeable). Stay True threads the needle — it's a visual remaster that you install and then forget about, because the world just looks better without looking different.

What it changes

1
Terrain blocksGrass, dirt, stone, sand, and gravel get more variation — less repetition, same palette.
2
WoodMore natural grain and color variation — the biggest "aha" moment for new players.
3
Connected texturesGlass, bookshelves, and other blocks connect seamlessly — replaces the visible tiling grid.
4
Pink birch leavesAn optional feature that turns birch leaves pink. Controversial, but easy to disable.

How to install it

Stay True is a resource pack, not a mod. It requires OptiFine or Continuity for the connected textures — but the base textures work on any setup.

  1. On OptiFine: Install OptiFine, place the Stay True ZIP in resourcepacks, and enable it.
  2. On Fabric: Install Continuity for connected textures. Place the ZIP in resourcepacks and enable it.
  3. Launch the game. The pack applies automatically.
Pink birch leaves. Stay True includes an optional feature that turns birch leaves pink. If you do not want this, check the pack settings or use an older version without the feature.

Frequently asked questions

Does Stay True need OptiFine?
Only for connected textures and the pink birch leaves feature. The base textures work on vanilla Minecraft or Fabric without OptiFine. For the full experience, OptiFine or Continuity is recommended.
Is Stay True 16x or 32x?
Stay True is 16x. It does not increase resolution. The goal is to improve the existing textures, not to double their size.
Will it work with shaders?
Yes. Stay True is a standard resource pack and works with Iris and OptiFine shaders. It does not include PBR textures, so it will not add normal or specular mapping to shader packs.
Why are my birch leaves pink?
Stay True includes an optional feature that turns birch leaves pink. If you do not want this, check the pack settings or use an older version without the feature.
Does Stay True work on Bedrock Edition?
The main pack is Java Edition. Bedrock does not support connected textures in the same way, and there is no official Bedrock port of Stay True.

Why this listing exists

Most resource sites either dump hundreds of unverified links with no context, or hide downloads behind fake countdown timers and redirect chains. This page follows a different approach: it shows the resource's real metadata, links to the creator's original page, and states clearly what we have and have not verified.
