Mouse Tweaks

Vanilla Minecraft makes you click and drag every stack you want to move. Mouse Tweaks doesn't add items or blocks — it changes how the mouse behaves over inventory screens. Drag to distribute, scroll to push between chests, shift-drag to move whole rows. It sounds like a small thing until you play without it.

What Mouse Tweaks actually does

Mouse Tweaks changes how the mouse interacts with inventory screens. It does not add items or blocks. Instead, it makes existing actions faster and less repetitive. That's the entire feature set — three drag behaviors and a scroll behavior — but it's the mod that, once installed, you can't imagine playing without.

Without Mouse Tweaks, moving a stack of items requires clicking and dragging each stack individually. With it, you can drag across slots to move one item at a time, shift-click entire rows, and use the scroll wheel to push items between your inventory and a chest. The direction of the scroll determines the direction of the transfer. If your inventory is full of dirt and your chest is full of stone, one scroll swaps the two.

It's not a feature mod — it's a modifier of existing UI. That's why it works with modded containers and crafting stations (most inherit vanilla behavior) and why it doesn't touch rendering, world generation, or game logic. The mod is invisible until you open an inventory and notice that you're not clicking as much as you used to.

Core features

1
Drag craftingHold left click and drag across a crafting grid to place one item in each slot. Release to complete the recipe.
2
Quick stack movementScroll over a slot to move items between your inventory and an open container. Direction depends on scroll direction.
3
Shift-dragDrag with shift held to move entire stacks across multiple slots in one gesture.
4
Right-click dragPlace one item per slot across a row — useful for filling crafting grids and dispensers.

How to install it

Mouse Tweaks is a client-side mod. The server does not need it, and it won't cause desync or rejection if you join a vanilla or modded server. Install it like any other mod JAR.

  1. Install Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge for your Minecraft version. See the mod installation guide if you haven't done this before.
  2. Download the Mouse Tweaks JAR from CurseForge for your exact loader and Minecraft version. The download page lists separate files for each loader — pick the one that matches your setup.
  3. Drop the JAR into .minecraft/mods (or your launcher's mods folder for the profile you're using).
  4. Launch the game. Mouse Tweaks works silently — no config screen, no menu, no HUD element. The behavior is active as soon as you open an inventory.
Version note. Mouse Tweaks supports Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge. Using a Forge build on Fabric will crash the game. Check the loader before downloading.

Frequently asked questions

Does Mouse Tweaks work on servers?
Yes. It is client-side, so it works on any server that allows client-side mods. The server does not need to have it installed. Some servers with strict anti-cheat may flag unusual inventory behavior, but Mouse Tweaks is widely used and not considered a cheat mod.
Will Mouse Tweaks work on Bedrock Edition?
No. Mouse Tweaks is a Java Edition mod only. Bedrock does not support Java mods.
Can I use Mouse Tweaks with Sodium and Iris?
Yes. Mouse Tweaks is a utility mod and does not interact with rendering. It works alongside performance and shader mods without conflict.
Why did my game crash after installing Mouse Tweaks?
The most common cause is downloading the wrong loader build. Check that you downloaded the Forge JAR for Forge, or the Fabric JAR for Fabric. See the crash log guide for how to identify the exact error.
Does Mouse Tweaks work with modded inventory screens?
In most cases, yes. Modded containers and crafting stations usually inherit the vanilla inventory behavior, so Mouse Tweaks' drag and scroll features work on them too. Mods that completely replace the inventory GUI may conflict — check those mods' pages if you use one.

Why this listing exists

Most resource sites either dump hundreds of unverified links with no context, or hide downloads behind fake countdown timers and redirect chains. This page follows a different approach: it shows the resource's real metadata, links to the creator's original page, and states clearly what we have and have not verified.
